Beanies, beanies, beanies and more beanies!

My bon mots of wisdom has escaped me this eve...and so....I POST PICS OF MY BEANIES! HA HA HA HA! Enjoy!

The latest beanie that I made...

This was a cute number I did last year
I really liked the frilly edge I did on this one.
I like figuring out different designs I was
proud of this one.

Ermahgad! You guys! I'm so cute!

AND ADORABLE! AH!

This was fun to wear for my ID pic :)

Experimenting and trying out new designs
is the fun!

This was another request. It turned out quite
well if I do say so to myself.

Again, shampoo bottles make good hat stands.

There was a beard that was attached to this one.

The Force is strong in this one...
...or maybe it was the chili...

The evolution of a crocheter...

After that baby blanket, my crochet world pretty much opened up from there. I think I spent a few weeks going through various youtube videos looking for other projects. At the time, my niece's birthday was coming up and of course, I had to make her something. She is an avid owl lover. So, I turned to beanie making. :)

In my search I came upon this video on how to crochet an owl beanie. I got busy making it. As I followed the instructions from the video (this gal is really good. you should follow her on youtube if you want to learn to crochet), I began to make mini adjustments here and there. This was the end product...

Shampoo bottles make good hat stands...

I felt it was pretty good for a first attempt although it was a little big for my niece. With the posting of the above pictures, I had friends lining up for one of their own. I was all too happy to oblige. With each owl beanie I was hoping to refine my technique and add other things (like ear flaps!). I felt somewhat successful in such endeavors...

Who?
More beanies to post in the next blog! Stay tuned...or flat...or sharp...as long as we all end up together on the same pitch...

How it all began...

Add caption
I believe I have been crocheting for about four years now. I had previously picked up the art of crochet many years back in my college days. But at the time, I had absolutely no clue as to what I was doing.

I started crocheting again about four years ago. It was a couple of months before the birth of my niece and I wanted to do something for my brother and his wife. I picked up some yarn and slowly started to relearn how to crochet. This time, however, I bought really big yarn and some big hooks. I still had no clue as to what I was doing.

Fast forward a couple of years later. My sister was having her first child and my mom, more or less, demanded that I make a blanket for the child. Of course, I still had no clue as to what I would be doing and add the fact that my sister had a specific color scheme in mind. It almost proved to be too daunting a task. Then that old light bulb began to dimly flash. Youtube.

So, yeah, I started trolling around the youtubes in search of baby blanket crochet tutorials. Lo and behold! I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m17BJOIef2k. This is the result of my efforts slaving over a hot stove...

It's lots and lots of granny stitches! It never ends!

After that, it was just one youtube video after another until I started getting a hang of this whole crochet thing. And that, kids, is how I met your mother...oh....I should really stop watching TV. CHEERS!

Hello and Welcome, All my little minions...

Greetings, people types! This is my second attempt at this whole "blogging" thing these young people seem to be in to these days. My name is...well...my name isn't important right now (or is it?). I live somewhere in the U.S., I think. I work in a school corrupting the minds of our youths. On the side, I crochet. In this blog, I figure on posting pics of my various projects and maybe throw in a few nuggets of wisdom. But it's mostly to post my projects and get all the attention this attention whore needs. So, buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life! Not really, I'm a very safe driver and I go at reasonable speeds...but you still need to buckle up 'cause it's the law or something like that...

I! CAN'T! HEAR! YOU! I HAVE A BANANA IN MY EAR!
